A great read, I'll be waiting for the next one!

It took me a little while to really get into this book, but once I did it was a great read! I love a good thick book and this one delivered a great story that was different from any other book I've read. I like this post-apocalyptic tale and I am looking forward to reading the next book to see what is in store for the star-crossed main characters and their friends. This book also has the prettiest cover I have ever seen, the colors are amazing.

Great book

Love pretty much all of this Author's books, this books pace was fast enough to maintain interest easily. I didn't put it down for 2 days reading and rereading to catch details I missed. The characters are well written and easy to relate to on many levels, love the strong women in this book! I absolutely cannot wait to see what's next! I think the development of the different tribes and clans and their interactions with each other... their prejudices and assumptions about each other are sadly similar to the realities we all live in daily. The storyline kept me guessing throughout and shocked and surprised me often. Found myself imagining this world P.C. Cast has created and marveling at the beauty described, the drawings were a neat touch as well, helping to fully paint the picture the words created.

Another obsession series from PC Cast

Although the story started a bit slow and there were lots of moving parts that needed to be explained as the story develops this was a great base for another series of books that I will devour as soon as they are available. Clan of the cave bear meets post apocalyptic world - a new beginning through an end.

About the Author
Timothy Beatley is Chair of the Department of Urban and Environmental Planning and Teresa Heinz Professor of Sustainable Communities at the School of Architecture at the University of Virginia, where he has taught for over twenty-five years.His primary teaching and research interests are in environmental planning and policy, with special emphasis on coastal and natural hazards planning, environmental values and ethics, and biodiversity conservation. He has published extensively in these areas, including the following books: "Ethical Land Use"; "Habitat Conservation Planning: Endangered Species and Urban Growth";" Natural Hazard Mitigation"; and" An Introduction to Coastal Zone Management".In recent years much of his research and writing has been focused on the subject of sustainable communities, and creative strategies by which cities and towns can reduce their ecological footprints, while at the same time becoming more livable and equitable places. His books that explore these issues include "Biophilic Cities", "Resilient Cities", and "Green Urbanism" (Island Press).

Technical writer Joseph Joyner has been fascinated with computers and all things having to do with technology since a very early age. When computers were in their infancy young Joseph was tearing them apart just to see how they worked, and he never got over his insatiable curiosity about the latest and greatest gadgets as they became available. As a young man Mr. Joyner went to work in a local computer store as a hardware technician while he worked his way through night school. He continued pursuing his passion while earning a computer science degree in just five years attending classes at night and on weekends. After graduating college he was hired as a Network Administrator and was responsible for maintaining 99% availability of the company's computer network. In addition to his considerable responsibilities Mr. Joyner is also an author of computer related books covering computer programming, gaming, and technical manuals. "Technology has always been my first passion in life. I get a great deal of personal satisfaction from being able to apply technology in new and interesting ways. My previous coal is to develop new software that will revolutionize artificial intelligence and how it's applied to industrial robotics," says Joyner. Those who know him have little doubt that he'll accomplish his goal. His many achievements in advancing the theories and concepts of computer technology have earned him the respect of his peers and superiors alike. Mr. Joyner is married and has two children. He and his family happily reside in a quiet nondescript gated resort community in the Midwestern United States.

First of all, the book is so generic and tools only focused that the whole idea of devops is lost. After reading it I still don't know where I stand and what is devops. Is it only a suite of tools that you bundle together to automate as much as you can? Or is it more to it?
Finally, the book would benefit from some editor's touch.
If it wasn't less than 5$, I'd be very upset.

Much too technical for me. I have read a number of books on the subject. So, I am certainly interested in in-depth knowledge. But this book is too specialized, dealing with economic conditions in particular.

A medicinal pill for the effortlessly righteous

The book sometimes hides its thesis behind detail, and is not easy to follow. It was finished for the press before the Croat offensive of Spring 1995, and loses some perspective in consequence. Hence only four stars! It is very thoroughly researched (not just full of footnotes), and it is one of the very few books on the Bosnian war which doesn't simply pick heroes and villains - which has, of course, led to it being denounced as pro-Serb. Woodward's main line is that the basis of conflict was 'the economy, stupid'. Successive blunders in the terms of IMF loans, and misjudged changes in the federal constitution, set the constituent republics against each other. Misunderstanding of the issues (and German/Austrian favouritism to Balkan clients) led the European powers into grossly unprincipled and utopian interventions. The federation was levered apart, while preserving intact the constituent republics. This was a 'solution' to the wrong set of problems. The United States, continually encouraging the Bosnian Muslims to wait for the NATO fairy to rescue them (it didn't), completed the sorry work of war-making - though this last element is better documented elsewhere (e.g. in Rose's _Fighting for Peace_). I don't agree with all of the author's opinions. In particular, I think national allegiances run deeper and history is more relevant than she wants to believe. But it is a serious attempt to rescue this piece of contemporary history from self-indulgent moral one-upmanship and propaganda saturation. If only Woodward could write as well as Ivo Banac!

Gutsy scholarly challenge to the conventional wisdom.

Woodward, a scholar at the Brookings Institution, argues provocatively, but convincingly, that the breakup of Yugoslavia and the resulting ethnic conflict was _not_ inevitable and could have been avoided if the West had given more support to leaders within Yugoslavia (e.g. Ante Markovic) who wanted to promote democracy as well as free-market economic policies. She directly challenges the conventional wisdom articulated by the more readable and widely read "Balkan Ghosts" that history and culture made conflict in Yugoslavia inevitable. The complex and lengthy text of Woodward's book may deter some, but the highly nuanced arguments will prove fertile ground for those who want to better understand the causes of ethnic conflict both in Yugoslavia and more generally

Not one of my favorites...

I am huge Gerri Hill fan and have read most of her books. This one though, falls a little short in my opinion. The story revolves around two charcters, Jo and Kelly, both in their mid-30s and both professors at a college. Jo has been cheated on and left by her long time lover and refuses to let anyone get close to her. Kelly is an athlete, writer, who has a reputation of being a player. Easy markings for typical yet enjoyable story.

The reason I didn't love this was that Jo got on my nerves with her insecurity and her possesiveness. And Kelly, well she just kept taking the beatings. I get it, love and wanting and all that but really...it was little more that I think as a reader I could take. And then there was the lack of display of the said reputation of Kelly. I would have liked to see more happen as in Jo going out on a date, something more with Deb perhaps. I don't really know, I just know something was missing to really tie the story of the two characters together.

I didn't hate the book...but it's not one of my favorites and probably not one that I read again in the future any time.

Love wins!

This is my first time reading a book by this author. I enjoyed it immensely. One of the characters, Jo, had insecurity and trust issues. After a previous bad relationship that is understandable. She found someone who was patient enough to hang in there with her and help her overcome those issues. Sometimes, that happens in real life. That would be wonderful if everyone was blessed like that. A very good read! I can't wait to read other works by this author.

I enjoyed this story and it was a fast read, however I gave it 3 stars because this CLIFF HANGER suspense is driving me crazy!!! I am reading anticipating the next move when BAMM.... The story just stops and there is no part 3!!! KC Blaze is a very talented writer but reading her work is beginning to be too STRESSFUL! Can we please get a whole novel instead of all of these little novellas??? For the most part it's a very good story.

Loved this storyline, Raheim really grew as a responsible dedicated man. Raheim was so hurt by his brothers death and his feelings were felt through the authors writing. Raheim and Felecia were a great couple who loved one another. Raheims mom release from prison will be nothing but trouble. Raheims crazy ex needs to be handled!!! Looking forward to part 3!!

This book has probably THE WORST advice any man can receive, nothing of any real substance just canned lines that will not woo any woman with a pulse.

BEWARE: 99% of this "book" is nothing but empty forms to fill out.
