A great deal

I have the printed book, I see it's now in Kindle, it's practically free. I have learned a number of things from the book, the book also motivated me to do a lot of research. Modern books are rare, most of them talk about using urine. This is the only modern book (series of books) I came across that do not tell you the only path is via urine. The book quotes authors which I have begun reading, also is very intriguing. I would not let the negative comment deter you, these books are good and definitely worth reading and your time. Steve also has put photos on youtube of his work and made a DVD which I found nice to see and learn from after I had read his books. I recommend reading all Steve's books, and all the top 3 modern ones out there, they are all very good and great value for the money and to be honest their value is probably priceless if you can use them to lead you to your success which is what we are all chasing after.
My impression upon reading the book (which i did a few months ago), if i recall now was that it was well written, not long, and exciting to read/study. It is a booklet, or a short book. So dont expect 50 pages. This desont diminish from the benefit one might acquire from reading this.
I am writing this comment because i saw a 1 star rating, i think the book deserves better. People are more vocal when they have something negative to say usually.
the kindle book is practically free, you read it and be the judge.

Alchemy and the green lion

I am no sage or expert on alchemy, I have about a couple years of alchemy reading, I naturally have read the common books any alchemy researcher ends up purchasing such as The Alchemists Handbook, The Weiser Concise Guide, The Way of the Crucible, Real Alchemy, etc along with couple dozen ancient books.
Alchemy is very confusing and the only way I know of to understanding it is to read many books, reach a critical level of confusion then one day start to understand. I definitely recommend any alchemy researcher to read many books, it comes with the territory.
I consider myself a newbie to alchemy, I cannot and will not judge a book on its alchemical correctness or accuracy or depth, I lack such knowledge or arrogance. I personally like all the books I read on alchemy.
I am glad I purchased Steven's booklet, it is a valuable addition to my collection. I find myself coming back to it to review it, despite it's small size. It's never about how many words or pages a book had, but about how it can improve my understanding.
It is a booklet, not a book. It is short, basically 14 pages of text. Which is good and bad, depending on what you want. All the modern books I read are of a good length and are full of information, practical historical and spiritual, so get them. If you read old books you will know that alchemists often say so much without seeming to say anything useful, also get them and read them.
Reading a short booklet is refreshing when it comes to alchemy. Plus, it isnt a book on the history of alchemy it is a booklet which the author says "represents some of my alchemical discoveries" , and if you are like me you will value learning from others' experiences.
Unlike all the other modern books which I read this booklet is very specific and simplifying, it simplifies then simplifies some more, and defines some alchemical terms in a very interesting manner, and to be honest useful. For instance what an oil, or what distillation is, it simplifies the lab operations IMO. it took some getting used to for me to accept the simplification, even if you might not accept the definitions its always good to know that someone out there has defined something in a certain way, one day that definition might work for you. I cannot offer a judgment on the correctness of of the definitions or if the lab work will make you a stone. we are dealing with alchemy here and alchemy processes which are never ever revealed like some cookie recipe, it takes ur effort in thinking and then in lab work to see if something will work or not. i have not worked in the lab with the materials or processes mentioned in these booklets so i cant offer an opinion, but the process seems to follow others, and as to the prima materia i have not figured out what it is yet.
It is a good introductory reading for a newbie, and a good book for someone who might be lost with many different operations and processes and terms and opinions, this one simplifies everything. Some might disagree but I found it clarifying and helpful to have things simplified. But dont expect a clear spelling out of what the Prima Materia or Menstruum are. Steve doesnt hand you secrets so plainly but he does offer clues and hints at the next booklets which will hold more clues. Like any good modern introductory alchemy book, you will see a mention of the primum ens mellisa work. The 'ancient words' section is also intriguing, it will send you searching for egyptian glyphs. I also like the section on the 'theory on salt' it is similar to what bartlett and bacstom say.
Expect to read this short booklet, then sit and think, jot down ideas, then come back to red it again, it's that kind of a booklet. If you get other booklets they will shed light on this one.
I do see a message in there, and there is also clarifying, and there is process(s), and also clues to the prima materia and menstruum in the 4 booklets i have.
I have read this booklet about 5 times so far, I intend to re-read it again, along with the next book 'golden water' and the survival guide and peacock tail. I see he has more than 6 books on alchemy but I have 4 of them which I'm reading. The more i read these the clearer a picture I am seeing and the more insight into Steven's own work, process and materials I have. His work does not deviate from other processes i read ...
Dont expect to get this booklet and feel like that's it, i know you will want to get the others like i did for more info, and they do help. He has a couple as kindle books now which I preferred especially that it was just 0.99 cents. I think since amazon prints the books there's a minimum of a cost/price on any bookl so kindle is just perfect for me and shows that steve isnt out to make money on this IMO.
If you are totally new to alchemy I do think this is a very good booklet/booklet series to start with, and do give it time, give it a lot of thought, and remember what you learn here before as/if you jump into the ocean of books, processes, and words out there, start with this and start simple and remember the definitions here then go on reading other books or even better figure out the materials mentioned and follow the processes in the lab and maybe you succeed, there's one way to find out and it's to try it out.
If you are like me and have read many books but still feel lost, then this booklet does a magnificent job at simplifying the terms/lab work, i had to sit down and think or meditate on the definitions he offers because after so many months reading of all the different terms and works i had to literally pause and let this simplification and clarification sink in/allow myself to accept them, or not, but the knowledge alone of such simple yet deep definition of the methods and processes is very useful.
In short, i recommend it, but you should know 1) it is a booklet (short) and 2) it will leave you wanting more (i.e the other booklets) which i am finding to be helpful .. i think what's happening here is that steve is writing these small booklets (still writing more i think) revealing a little more with each one!
