Pleasant read but I wanted more.

Don't Walk Away is a second chance romance that I enjoyed for the most part. Dean and Emma, young lovers who break up suddenly when Dean leaves their hometown and never tells her why. Fast forward 11 years and they are thrown together accidentally: she a successful clothes designer with a partner from hell and he, a successful partner in a dating service.
What happens next is the very bumpy journey to try to recapture what Emma and Dean had all those years ago. I admit I am a sucker for second chance romances but this one could have been better. Even though it was a well written book, I felt that Emma and Dean didn't really have to try hard enough to be together. Especially Emma. She remembered the hurt from so long ago, yet let herself be taken sexually by Dean without much of a fight. In addition, there is a storyline involving the afore-mentioned partner from hell that I thought was overly explained. Some of those scenes seemed to be unnecessary in my opinion.
However, the characters are very likable and there are minor storylines going on at the same time that will undoubtedly set up future books in the series for other members of Dean's company.
Overall a decent read even though it fell flat at times for me.

3 "Short and Sexy" Stars
Don't Walk Away is the third book in the DreamMakers series. I read the first All Fired Up and Dean plays a pretty big role in that book. His introduction is the opposite of tame so I was really interested to see where his book would take him. This was a pretty quick read that covers quite a lot of ground in a short time.
Dean and Emma dated in high school. After graduation they planned to go to college and live together. Emma even gave up a scholarship in Italy so she could start her life with Dean. Out of nowhere Dean left never giving an explanation. This story takes place 11 years later when they run into each other at a Halloween party thrown by mutual friends. Emma, hurt and angry, makes Dean earn his place in her life but Dean is determined not to give up this time.
Since this was on the shorter side, it was difficult to delve too deeply into the characters. With so much history between them, their reunion felt a bit rushed and Dean didn't really make me feel like he understood the full impact of his decisions. Sure Dean had his reasons but what he did to Emma was pretty major and I wished I could have seen more than a quick resolution. In addition we get multiple pov's throughout the story. I like that we get Dean and Emma's but getting Gillian and Suz's and Colby's take up time that could be devotee to Dean and Emma. I'm not sure why these character's side stories were included as they really didn't add much to the main Dean/Emma storyline.
I did love how they first ran into each other at the costume party and getting to see Dean sulk a little. It was also fun to see Dean actually try to woo Emma since we've never seen that side of him before. The love scenes were smoking hot too. Dean is a master at dirty talk. All the guys of DreamMakers are swoon-worthy and Dean was no exception.

felt a little of that magic that I loved from this series starting to slip away with this one
By The Book Reading Gals
Thoughts: Being a huge fan of both Vivian Arend and Elle Kennedy, I had huge expectations for this book. Not only that, but I was already connected to the characters, having read and loved the previous DreamMakers titles. Unfortunately, the magic just wasn’t there for me in this one. Part of it was that it just read completely different from the other titles – including a lot of bouncing around between the different characters. So much so that it distracted me from the main characters and from the whole story. Without the bouncing around, I probably would have enjoyed it much more. II liked their characters and their story at the beginning, but it just kind of fell apart the more I read. I felt a little of that magic that I loved from this series starting to slip away with this one.
Definitely a pass for me.
